“Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” -2 Corinthians 9:7
The men, women, and children of the Corinthian church were challenged by the apostle Paul to give monetary offerings to their church for the sake of the spreading of the gospel and making disciples of Jesus Christ. When they gave their offerings, they would be doing what God wanted them to do…almost. You see, God wanted them to obey Him in their offerings and add one more thing. They were to give with cheerfulness, not with sadness or with regret. He wanted them to obey with cheerfulness.
And that is how God wants us to do school this year and every year. He wants us to obey our teachers and principals and librarians and coaches all of the time…and not gripe about it. But instead, He wants us to obey with an eager and cheerful attitude. That kind of obedience is going to be rewarded, not only by our teachers and our parents, but by our God.
Prayer: “Lord, I definitely need You to help me when it comes to obeying those who teach and lead me at school. Obviously, I need to be obeying my mom and dad at home too. So help me there also. And one more thing…help me to obey without griping. Help me to obey with a smile, a grin, and cheerfulness all over my face and body. Because I know that it pleases You. Thanks, Lord.”
