“…God is love…and as He is so are we to be in this world.” -1 John 4:16,17
As we go about our daily lives, we will have good days and we will experience some not so good days. Some days will feel like everything is going our way. And then other days will feel like nothing is going our way. Some days we will get up in the morning and just can’t wait to get to school. And then there will be those days that going to school is the last thing that we want to do. So, how do we deal with the different days that we will encounter this school year? The answer is in the above verse. We will ask God to empower us to LOVE as He does.
God so loved us that one day He left heaven and came to earth to die on a cross, in our place, in order to pay the penalty for our sins so that you and I, who would believe in Him, would not have to. That was love and that is love. Jesus Christ put us before himself. He served us instead of serving himself. And that was and is the ultimate demonstration of love.
Jesus made it through all the different days of his life on earth by love. And so can you this school year. Whether it is a good day or a not so good day, you decide to love others that day…especially your family and your teachers. Look for ways to help them. Look for ways to serve them.
Prayer: “Lord, You are love and that is just exactly what I want to be today and everyday of this school year. Please help me. I don’t want to be selfish, I want to look for ways to help others, especially my teachers. You show me…I’ll be watching. In Your Name I pray, amen.”
