“A man that has friends must show himself friendly…” -Proverbs 18:24

It is very important to have a close-knit family.  Moms and dads and brothers and sisters and grandparents and uncles and aunts and cousins and nephews and nieces make up the branches of a family tree.  It has been said that family relationships make a community and a nation what she is.  I want to go a bit further.  A strong nation will be made up of spiritually strong, loving families.  I believe that with all of my heart.  And when I pray for our country, I ask God to revive the spirituality of our country’s churches and our country’s families.

So having a great family to lean on as you start back to school this year is awesome.  But there is something else you will need.  You need a few good friends.  You need guys and gals your age to share the school experience with you.  But remember this…you need the right friends…the friends that will inspire you to do your best and not just mess around.  You need the kind of friends who respect their parents and their teachers.  You need the kind of friends that speak well of others instead of putting others down by saying ugly things about them.  You need the kind of friends who look to help others instead of the kind that just want to be first all the time.  So how do you make those kinds of friends this year?  By being that kind of friend…that’s how!

Prayer:  “Lord, like Solomon told his grandkids, whoever would have good friends, that person would have to first be a good friend.  Please help me to be the best friend I can be for my classmates and my school.  Thanks.”
